GUST hosted the Ibtikar 2017 Awards Ceremony for the second year in a row, on its campus. The competition, held under the patronage of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and ASAS Holding, stems from Sheikha Fadia Al-Saad Al-Sabah’s various youth initiatives through the HH Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah Foundation. Winners of the competition are eligible to compete regionally against candidates from various countries around the gulf.

Under the patronage and presence of HE the Ambassador of Lebanon to Kuwait, Mr. Maher Al Khair, GUST held a Lebanese-Kuwaiti poetry evening at the College of Arts and Sciences. The poetic evening hosted prominent poets from both countries, including Kuwaiti poet Eqbal Al Naham, and Lebanese poets Dr. Bilal Akl Al Sandeed, and Huda Sadeq.

The English Dept. organized another successful Quiz Show. Teams of three competed against each other in several rounds of trivia questions. The audience got the chance to answer some questions as well for some cash prizes. It was a fun afternoon filled with new knowledge and laughter. One of GUST’s teams that participated at the 5th Annual 24-Hour Carnegie Mellon University Hackathon won first place for the Best App Design. The competition, which was held on the 27th and 28th January, took place at the university campus in Education City, Doha.

Gulf Financial Center Strikes Strategic Agreement with London’s Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI)
Kuwait City, February 1st 2017: Gulf University for Science and Technology’s (GUST) Gulf Financial Center (GFC) has signed an agreement with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) to become the first academic testing center and training provider for CISI certifications in the region.
