GUST hosts April round of Startup Kuwait and selects 5 teams for finals!
Fifteen GUST student teams pitched their ideas at the April round of Startup Kuwait. Five teams managed to secure a place in the next round where students from different universities will compete to secure seed funding enabling them to turn their ideas into sustainable businesses, including: Arena, Hireme.com, Baby Guards, Lunchboxers, 965Decks. Three teams from American University of Kuwait (AUK) also presented their business ideas during the event hosted by GUST’s College of Business Administration.
The April round of Startup Kuwait, held at GUST, was adjudicated by a distinguished panel consisting of Mr. Mohammed Al-Bahar of Boubyan Petrochemicals Company, Mr. Sanjay Gautam of KAPICO Group and Mr. Essa Behbehani of Choowy Goowy. The well attended event was supported by Al-Ahli Bank of Kuwait.
Startup Kuwait is an initiative launched by Global Centre at Kuwait University to encourage students to understand the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship, and be able to work on and launch their own business ideas. As a part of this initiative, the five winning teams from GUST will compete against their peers from other universities in the final round scheduled to take place in May 2016.
