GUST Forms Undergraduate Student Advisory Board (USAB)

Following Gulf University for Science & Technology's formation of its College of Business (CBA) Administration Advisory Board with a group of dignitaries from all sectors of the country, the college initiated the Undergraduate Student Advisory Board (USAB) to develop student interaction in decision-making in a manner compatible with the terms and conditions of the AACSB.


USAB elected their second and current Chairperson in the semester of Spring 2017, Nazeema Derbas, Finance major, while electing Marketing major, Ali Aakash, as Secretary of the Board.


The USAB is under the supervision of GUST Assistant Professor, Dr. John Hayes, and includes students from various departments:

  • Finance: Abdulrahman Qamhiya, Noran AL-Hadad, Abdul Rahman Azizieh.
  • Accounting: Mosaed AL-Yaseen, Sarah ALAjmi, Halla ALDerbas.
  • Management Information Systems: Halla ALDerbas, Nahlah Al-Othman, Abdulmouhsen AlFulaij.
  • Management and Organizational Behavior: Hachem Mourtada
  • International Business Major: Sandy Chammas.

USAB Chairperson, Nazeema Derbas, said, “The student advisory board is in line with the AACSB and GUST’s policies which aim to develop academic performance within the university, the main focus of the board.”


USAB Members are elected by the CBA Heads of Departments, to ensure the representation of all majors. The board has held three meetings since its formation setting in place plans and activities to establish a presence at GUST, and work closely with professors to facilitate a stronger student-teacher relationship.


The USAB will be conducting a survey to collect information from all CBA students concerning their courses, teaching methods, and any other concerns under the academic umbrella.
