GUST Releases Tenth Volume of Excelsior and Celebrates Publication of 5 Books
Gulf University for Science and Technology celebrated today the release of the tenth volume of Excelsior at the A.M Al-Refai Library, as well as the publication of five books by faculty. Present at the event were GUST Vice President for Academic Affairs and Acting Vice President for Planning and Development, Dr. Salah Al Sharhan, Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Kameleddine Benameur, the Excelsior committee members, and GUST’s faculty, staff and students. The event began with a ribbon cutting ceremony, a brief overview of the published books by their respective authors, as well as short speeches by distinguished invitees
The event was held to thank Excelsior’s contributors and the authors of the books. The principle objectives of the publication is to allow GUST community to express their creativity and knowledge in the forms of original short stories and other prose, poetry, art, and combinations thereof, which are culturally appropriate.
The GUST faculty books whose launches were celebreated at the event were Challenges and Channels, edited by Dr. Ikram Elsherif, The Political Opposition, written in Arabic by Dr. Abdulmohsen Jamal, Ficciones Y Memorias, written in Spanish by Dr. Angela M. Gonzalez Echeverry, and finally, Women of Kuwait: Turning Tides, By: Ms. Chaitali Banerjee Roy, who is professionally associated with Kuwaiti media as a special correspondent to the Arab Times, and as a producer and editor at Radio Kuwait’s Foreign Service.
GUST President, Professor Donald Bates said, “As Kuwait’s premier private university, GUST continuously strives to provide its students with the best educational environment, while encouraging their exceptional talents.”
The event was organized by the library, and is the 10th to occur for the occasion of an Excelsior release, and the sixth for the release of books authored or edited by GUST faculty and staff members.
