GUST Professor Cristina Navarro Receives 2016 EUPRERA Best Paper Award

Dr. Cristina Navarro, from the Mass Communication Dept. of the College of Arts and Sciences, has been awarded the prestigious 2016 EUPRERA Best Paper Award by the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA) for her investigative paper on “Analysis of social media use and perceptions of public relations practitioners in Latin America. Results from the LCM 2014-15”. The award was given out on October 1st at the 18th Annual EUPRERA Congress of 2016, in Groningen and Amsterdam.

For this project, Dr. Navarro partnered with Dr. Angeles Moreno from Rey Juan Carlos University, Spain, and Dr. Ansgar Zerfass from the University of Leipzig, Germany. The paper investigated the importance of social media channels in Latin American public relations value, the perceptions about which social media behavior is most relevant for corporate stakeholders and to which degree organizations are successful in its implementation, and the uses, strengths, and weaknesses of social media channels as a form of networking.

Apart from her role as an Assistant Professor at the Mass Communication Dept. of the College of Arts and Sciences at GUST, Dr. Cristina Navarro is involved in different projects and research projects, like the European Communication Professionals Skills and Innovation Program, the Cross-Cultural Study of Leadership in Public Relations and the European Communication Monitor. She is also an author of several publications in various international journals.
